Case study

As part of the launch of its new plant, Tremcar — a manufacturer of tank trailers and truck tanks — sought to optimize tank handling on its production line.
Certain areas were difficult to access with overhead cranes, limiting efficiency and workflow. Tremcar turned to Foxtrot to design a safe, flexible, and easy-to-integrate solution that required no structural modifications to the building.

Challenge

The Tremcar teams needed to move 10,000 lb tanks within a confined production space while reducing their dependence on overhead cranes. The challenge was to ensure safe and smooth handling without disrupting production or compromising operator safety. The company also wanted an ergonomic and easy-to-use system that could be operated by several employees with minimal training. The goal: modernize tank handling on the production line and optimize workflow efficiency.

Solution

Foxtrot proposed a custom-built solution combining mechanical and robotic engineering. Two custom transport platforms were designed and manufactured specifically for Tremcar:

  • Dry Bulk Platform: 20 ft × 8 ft
  • Petroleum Platform: 22 ft × 7 ft

Their design perfectly supports the tanks, ensuring a stable and risk-free move. Foxtrot also recommended the Tango, a remote-controlled robot designed for manufacturers. With its integrated lifting system and interchangeable load supports, the Tango adapts easily to multiple platforms, maximizing flexibility and workflow continuity on the production floor. This custom combination offers a modern alternative to overhead cranes — safer, simpler to use, and deployable without anchors or building modifications.
