Challenge

On the production floor, SMARDT’s chillers had to be moved regularly between assembly, testing, and storage areas. This operation, previously done with a forklift and four workers, had several limitations:

• Safety risks – limited visibility and potential collisions.
• High manpower demand – four people required per move.
• Low efficiency – long and imprecise maneuvers.
• Limited flexibility – difficulty operating in restricted areas.

SMARDT needed a handling solution that was ergonomic, flexible, and fast to deploy.
It had to reduce human risk, speed up chiller relocation, and optimize internal workflows — all without modifying the plant layout.

Solution

To address these challenges, Foxtrot proposed the OMNI robot.
It consists of two synchronized Tango robots, controlled by a single remote, designed for the safe handling of long and heavy loads in tight spaces.

Thanks to their compact size, both robots can be quickly positioned under the load.
Their remote-control system ensures precise and safe movement, while lateral and omnidirectional mobility allows operators to move chillers safely in confined areas with full visibility.

The integration required no structural changes or complex training.
From day one, the SMARDT team was able to use the OMNI to move multiple chiller models faster, with fewer people, and without collision risks.

Beyond improving safety and precision, the OMNI tripled movement speed and cut labor needs by half.
This tangible transformation strengthened productivity and worker safety while maximizing the efficiency of internal operations.
