Case study
MTL Rigging, a specialist in heavy equipment handling, faced a major challenge in Longueuil: relocating a 21,000 lbs electrical transformer to the first floor of a tower. With Foxtrot’s SOLO10, the team managed the move safely, efficiently, and with millimeter precision in a restricted space.
Challenge
The electrical transformer relocation project came with several challenges. The team had to lift a 21,000 lbs transformer to the first floor using a crane, then move it through a narrow corridor where forklifts or other equipment that did not guarantee safety and visibility could not be used. Precise positioning was required to place the transformer next to existing electrical units, making visibility and control essential to prevent any incidents or damage.
Solution
Foxtrot deployed its Solo 10 remote-controlled mover, designed for compactness and maneuverability. This innovative technology made it possible to relocate the CNC machine quickly and safely, even in confined areas. Remote control operation gave the team precise handling of the equipment, minimizing risks of damage and ensuring a smooth move. The entire job was completed in just a few hours, saving nearly two hours compared to traditional methods and allowing Usinage RM to restart production much faster.
